Three 18-year-olds have been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of longtime sports radio personality Jimmy Dodds, whose death has shaken\u2026<\/p>\n

Three 18-year-olds have been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of longtime sports radio personality Jimmy Dodds, whose death has shaken the Kansas City, Kansas, community and renewed concerns about youth violence.<\/p>\n

Dodds, 64, was killed Sunday outside his home in the 3000 block of 82nd Terrace in Kansas City, Kansas.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Known to generations of listeners as \u201cUncle Jimmy,\u201d Dodds built a following through his work in sports talk radio and was also a longtime employee of the Wyandotte County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified the three suspects as Aaron Johnson, Mark Nash Jr. and Marquel McGee.<\/p>\n

All three suspects, who are 18 years old, are being held at the Harvey County Detention Center in Newton, Kansas, while awaiting transfer back to Wyandotte County.<\/p>\n

Kansas City, Kansas, Police Chief Karl Oakman said the shooting stemmed from a disagreement involving people known to Dodds\u2019 family.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of his family members knew the individuals,\u201d Oakman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it stemmed from a disagreement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut once again, we\u2019re seeing people\u2019s inability to control their anger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigators have not publicly released additional details about the nature of the dispute or what led to the deadly confrontation.<\/p>\n

According to Dodds\u2019 landlord, Michelle Karanja, he was sitting inside his vehicle behind a parked Chevrolet Tahoe when the gunfire erupted.<\/p>\n

A visible bullet hole remains in the rear passenger side of the Tahoe parked at the scene.<\/p>\n

Karanja said her husband was working outside when the shooting occurred.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy husband was home working on the deck, and he heard three gunshots go off,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started looking around for it, and then soon after, the ambulance and everything showed up.\u201d<\/p>\n
