Tulsi Gabbard Turns In Her Resignation

Tulsi Gabbard Resigns as Director of National Intelligence to Support Husband’s Cancer Treatment

Tulsi Gabbard announced Friday that she is stepping down as Director of National Intelligence in President Donald Trump’s administration, citing her husband’s recent diagnosis with a rare form of bone cancer. Her resignation will take effect on June 30, allowing her to focus on supporting her husband, Abraham Williams, during his treatment.

In a resignation letter shared publicly, Gabbard expressed gratitude to President Trump for the opportunity to lead the Office of the Director of National Intelligence over the past year and a half. She wrote that her husband’s condition will require extensive care in the months ahead and that she could not continue in such a demanding role while standing by his side during this difficult time.

Gabbard, a former U.S. representative from Hawaii, was appointed to oversee the nation’s intelligence community during Trump’s administration. Her departure marks another high-profile leadership change within the administration. According to multiple news reports, Principal Deputy Director Aaron Lukas is expected to serve as acting Director of National Intelligence following her resignation.
